The father-daughter relationship was one that Shakespeare explored again and in The Winter's Tale and Cordelia in Lear as daughters who forgive and heal.

The Earl of Kent and the Fool, two of Lear’s most loyal companions, are very fond of her. Although she loves her father, she feels unable to make a flattering speech about how much she loves him. The play is a tragedy, playing on themes of loyalty and betrayal.
